Nut Storage and Process Upgrade

  • Design /build contractor for a major process and controls upgrade that also included a new 20,000SF rack storage facility
  • Bates successfully assembled a team of design/build experts in automation, conveyance, and food processing to deliver a custom solution for an existing facility.

Bates was selected to provide major facility upgrades to an existing peanut shelling plant.  The upgrades  were designed to better handle the product flow after shelling, and created a fully automated system from batching to bulk storage to truck and rail car loading.  The new 20,000 SF ambient temperature warehouse featured a new robotic racking/retrieval system that was selected to reduce loss of space to access isles and maximize storage of finished goods.  New areas also included a fully-conditioned control/PLC room in plant and new truck/rail processing office with lobby.  Site work included a new employee parking area, stormwater pond and truck unloading improvements.
