120-Megawatt Natural Gas Power Generating Facility

  • Pratt & Whitney Power Systems FT4000 SWIFTPAC—the first installed in North America
  • Simple Cycle Generator with 120MW Gas Turbine Generator Package

The major equipment for this project included two simple cycle aero-derivative combustion turbines, power control enclosure, electric generator, GSU transformer, 34.5KV switchgear, 4160V transformer, diesel generator, selective catalytic reduction exhaust system including 91’ exhaust stack, a 763,400-gallon demineralized water tank, a 406,400-gallon raw water tank, and a switchyard.  Ancillary equipment included tempering air fans, mineral lube oil skids, gas compressors, air compressors, ammonia injection skids, liquid fuel heater skids and MCC’s.  Support utilities include fire water, raw water, natural gas, liquid fuel, ammonia, oily waste, demineralized water, compressed air, electrical grounding, lightning protection, electrical underground, electrical power, lighting and controls.  Site work included erosion control, grading, bioswales, fencing, asphalt paving and insulating stone.  The project also included erection of a 6,120 SF control/administration building and a 1,600 SF mechanical building.  Bates was the general contractor on the project responsible for all trades associated with the field installation.  Bates self-performed portions of the civil, mechanical, electrical and steel fabrication.  The project was successfully completed in 12 months.
