Bates was selected to build this US Headquarters for a firearms manufacturer locating to Georgia. The facility consisted of 180,000 SF production area for machining, assembling, and testing guns. This area included loading docks, assembly areas, shelving systems for parts and finished goods as well as two indoor firing ranges. The facility also included a 25,000 SF administrative area for management, customer service and quality control. The interior of the warehouse has polished concrete floors, painted walls and painted ceilings including the exposed steel, HVAC with special humidity controls, fire protection and electrical. The interior of the administration area has an industrial look with polished floors, reclaimed woods, glass walls and sliding glass doors. The exterior of the building consisted of a joist and girder steel frame with painted tilt-wall concrete panels, a membrane roof, decorative storefronts, wall paneling, sun shades and stone. The site included 10+ acres of grading, 22,275 SY of asphalt paving for the parking lot and ½ mile road to the outdoor firing range. Underground utilities included electrical, telecommunication, natural gas, storm sewer, sanitary sewer, fire protection and domestic water. The entire property was landscaped and surrounded by security fencing. A new guardhouse was constructed for controlled access to the facility and security measures were installed including electric access doors and video surveillance.
